“What is Your Profession?” In the movie 300 King Leonidas and his brave 300 meet some Athenians on the way to Thermopolye. The Athenians are shocked at “few soldiers” Leonidas brought with him. Leonidas asks several Athenians what thier professions are: They respond with a series of answers…..non of which is “Soldier”.
Leonidas turns to his Spartans and in Unison….the respond with a Roar! Leonidas smiled….”See old friend I brought more soldiers than you!” There are several lessons to be learned here from a business and leadership standpoint:
1. Be good…very good at one thing and hire the same….mutli taskers rarely are good at everything…..you wouldn’t want an anesthesiologist with a scalpel working on your brain would you?
2. A Trained and Committed unit or Team is Powerful and Effective
3. A Leader that can harness such commitment is well on his / her way to success!
