In the movie, Richard Dreyfuss portrays the character Matt Hooper, a marine biologist trying to explain the real danger of a great white shark to the Mayor of Amity, Larry Vaughn. Hooper is a shark expert brought in to assess the threat posed by the shark terrorizing the town’s beaches.
