Whether you are buying a business or selling one engaging the right professionals is critical to success. Of late I have seen some alarming seller / buyer comments regarding the cost of professional attorneys and or cpa’s when doing a deal or specifically due diligence on a business. Let me say bluntly and for the records for the one billionenth time….brokers sell companies…we are not attorneys or accountants and any broker the represents that they have a “background in or have experience in arenas outside the sale of a business” is practicing out of scope. You should hire competent financial and legal teams to support you in the buying and selling of a business. The cost of not doing so can be disastrous! Each Professional has a role to play and needs to stay in their box. Don’t do it on the cheap…it will cost you.
