The Emporer’s New Clothes

The dirty little secret of business brokerage is that less than 25% of all the businesses that go to market ever sell. Behind closed doors if you talk to deal makers it generally comes down to 2 things: Unrealistic Sellers and Poor Records.

In our world to day we don’t tell fairy tales too much any more but I was a fan of Hans Christian Anderson and the beauty of his work was that they generally told natural truths and laws. If you are thinking of buying a business or selling a business seek out those who will tell you the hard truths…..not what you want to hear that will net you nothing in the end!

Be true to yourself. If you dont know the answer seek out wise counsel from those who do and listen and act on their advice. Put your ego away!
