So yesterday we are wrapping up final details on a sale and the seller wants to announce to her employees and her customers she has sold the business (the deal hasn’t closed yet). Seems she felt she owed it to them! In short this is bovine feces.
Every seller feels like they are the end all be all to their employees and their customers and the fact of the matter is that consumers and employees choose based upon economics not personality. No good whatsoever for buyer or seller comes from the disclosure of a sale. For those who have never been through the process of selling and transitioning you really cant appreciate the level of focus required on simply managing the business and changing ownership.
Change happens, disclosing the selling process prior to sale to anyone only ends in problems for everyone so for heavens sake ……”#shutup”
